‘Sleeping Beauty out of misty water’ , Chittagong, the port city is located 264 kilometers southwest of Dhaka. With a unique layout encompassing hills and rivers, it lies on the bank of the Karnaphuli river, at the edge of the Bay of Bengal.
Chittagong has been a port of supply for ships going to Java, Sri Lanka, and Madras since the 6th Century. Islam spread from this port and Buddhism went to Myanmar. Some of the main attractions are; the Shrine of Sultan Bayzid Bostami, Chandanpura mosque, the World War-II cemetery, the ethnological museum, etc.
